The Statewide Parcel Map Inventory (SPMI) attempts to collect a current “snapshot” of parcel data development across Minnesota. This survey focused specifically on the increasing development of digital parcel data in Minnesota. There are many reasons for this survey. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has funded this survey for ease in understanding existing parcel data development activities for use when partnering with local governments on transportation issues. The survey has also been used by organizations wanting to understand how their neighbors and other units of government are using digital parcel data. Some organizations may just be beginning to build a digital parcel database and will find information in this survey helpful. Others may have well established parcel datasets and would like to work with nearby communities on data collaboration. The uses for this survey are as numerous as the participants who contribute to it and the organizations that utilize the results.
